The Laura Bush Foundation commissioned this film just under a year after Katrina devastated New Orleans and the entire Gulf Coast. Few families were returning home and the children of the region, both displaced and surviving in the remnants of their former neighborhoods needed hope. For many that hope existed in the powerful escape of a good book.
